Computational Fluid Dynamics
Creare offers a full range of services and long-standing experience in both the art and science of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). We develop cutting-edge software and create innovative physics-based models for a wide spectrum of complex phenomena. Our CFD tools, together with theory, engineering analysis, and laboratory testing, are used to address a host of practical industrial flow and heat transfer needs. Creare specializes in solving challenging, leading-edge CFD problems and in unifying CFD predictions with key elements of theory and data.
Our experience includes laminar and turbulent flow, single-phase and multiphase flow, steady-state and transient conditions, heat and mass transfer, and chemically reacting flows. We have developed software for pre- and post-processing, grid generation, database management, and visualization as well as for the solution of state-of-the-art physical models. Our software products are built to run on platforms ranging from PCs to supercomputers.

For example, our projects have involved the development of multiphase flow software for aerosols and specialized models for the transport of gas, vapors, and liquids in protective fabrics. We have performed fluid flow solutions of large-scale industrial systems; designed chemical vapor deposition and etching equipment for the semiconductor industry; simulated augmentors for military jet engines; and performed thermal-fluid analysis of consumer products.
Our success in CFD began in 1983, when Creare, in conjunction with its consultants, developed FLUENT®, a state-of-the-art, general-purpose CFD code. FLUENT is now the most widely used commercial CFD software, with thousands of installations worldwide. It is developed, licensed, and supported by Fluent Inc., a Creare spin-off company now owned by ANSYS, Inc. Today, Creare engineers continue to offer a uniquely integrated blend of CFD, analysis, design, fabrication, and experimental services to our clients.
