Creare Develops Seabed Imaging System for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

The use of acoustic imaging for mine detection is difficult due to acoustic clutter, interactions with the seafloor, and penetration of sound into the sediment. Creare has won an STTR Phase II Award from the Naval Air Warfare Center to further develop and test its Seabed Imaging System (SIS). The Creare SIS provides fully automated data processing and balances the need for high spatial resolution with low power consumption.
