ARPA-E Funds Development of Innovative CO2 Capture Technology

Creare has developed an innovative method to produce high-performance heat and mass exchangers using low-cost, additive manufacturing. The Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) has awarded Creare a contract to use this technology for direct capture of CO2 from atmospheric air. In this project we will demonstrate by test that our low-cost exchanger cores can be used with advanced CO2 sorbent materials to produce a highly efficient device that can capture CO2 in a passive, wind-driven system. We will formulate a conceptual design for a direct air capture plant and show by techno-economic analysis that we can remove large quantities of CO2 from the atmosphere at low cost.
